Pick a Poppy is a stylized interpretation of the wild and tempting poppy. Choose the golden yellow California state flower, the more familiar red, or the unusual white and lavender blossom. Colored canvas accentuates exposed canvas stitches on the petals and offsets the densely-stitched flower center surrounded by a cluster of beaded stamens. A counted geometric border anchored by diagonal corners and harmonious background striping provide texture and interest to this dynamic poppy design.

General Stitch Placement

Striped Background Bricked Couching

Borders Twelve 12 x 12 squares filled with counted composite stitches that feature diagonal lines to repeat the pattern in the flower petals
Outside border - Alternating Woven Scotch/ Scotch Stitch

Diagonal Corners Diagonal patterns of exposed canvas stitches separated from the striped background by strings of beads in coordinating colors and in varied sizes

Flower Center Dictated by flower selected:

                                                Red – Black Spiders Web Stitch center flanked by dense fuzzy threads and surrounded by a few beaded stamens
                                                Yellow – large yellow teardrop bead center surrounded by a cluster of beaded stamens and edged by some yellow fuzzy threads
                                                White – large lavender teardrop bead center surrounded by a cluster of beaded stamens and edged by some fuzzy threads

Kit includes: Canvas with line drawing, all threads and beads necessary to complete the project, color copy and instruction booklet.
